Con esta imaxe do manuscrito da Biblioteca Nacional de Lisboa complementamos a proposta de reflexión e análise feita por Rip Cohen. A seguir reprodúcese a súa propia epÃgrafe e exposición:
Textual cruxes in a cantiga d’amor of Fernan Rodriguez de Calheiros
Here is a crux, marked by daggers ††meaning that I find the text unintelligible and am not (yet) convinced by any proposed emendation, including my own.

5 | B51 (fol.
Michaëlis made several necessary corrections in the first strophe. But v. 3 and the beginning of v. 4 are unintelligible. How should the text read? Here is my own tentative proposal for v. 4, but the beginning of v. 5 remains daggered (though I have a suggestion in the note below).

v. 2 [d] addidit Mich.   querer Mich. : quero B
v. 3 aja Michaëlis: e ia B
v. 4 Nen vos mençan scripsi: non u9 menti B
v. 5 a poder B: fort. mentira  bona B
v. 7 querria scripsi: queria B
Notes
Four strophes of a8b8b8c8c8d8d8, with palavra rima in v. 1 of each strophe (senhor). The c-rhyme (like the a-rhyme) is unissonans (on); the b-rhymes are doblas (I-II er, III-IV ei); the c-rhyme is singulars: e, a, ir, en).
vv. 4-5 The manuscript has non u9 menti ca depram e, but syntax and sense are problematic on several points: 1) the initial non requires an awkward stop at the end of the preceding verse; 2) it is not at all clear what menti would refer to, and the matter is not mentioned again; 3) a poder is meaningless here (and may have been incorrectly recopied from the end of v. 3, which reads e ia poder). Taking these three objections into account, we could conjecture nen vos mençan, ca depran é / mentira. The construction would then be parallel with v. 1: Non vos façan creer … /// Nen vos mençan; and mentira would stand in opposition to verdade in v. 23.
